Care

A site lives as long as someone watches it

Certificates expire, engines update, forms collect spam, speed drops. This happens to every site and does not depend on who built it.

What breaks if a site is left alone

None of this is about build quality. It is what happens over time to any working site — simply because everything around it changes.

Certificate

An SSL certificate is issued for a period. Once it expires, the visitor sees the browser's warning before they see your site — and usually closes the tab right there.

Updates

The server, the engine and the libraries ship security updates. Until they are applied, the site keeps known holes — known to the people looking for them, too.

Forms and spam

An unprotected enquiry form gradually fills with spam. The problem is not the spam; it is the real enquiry getting lost in it.

Backups

A backup is not needed on the day everything is fine. It is needed on the day something was deleted or overwritten — and then it matters where it is kept and how far back it can be rolled.

Write about careSee the prices first

Card payment for the subscription is not wired up yet. A plan starts with an email: I name the first charge date and what happens on cancellation, and nothing is charged before your answer.

A plan can be taken without a project: if the site already exists, I take it on as it is — after a short check that there is something to hold it on.

How «one small edit at a time» is counted

You send an edit — I do it in the ordinary course of work. The next one is taken once this one is closed. There is one queue: it does not pile up into a monthly batch and does not expire if you asked for nothing that month.

A small change is a change to something the site already has, without changing how it is built: replace a text or a photograph, correct a price or a contact, add an item to an existing list, hide or restore a ready-made block, update company details.

What is not a small change — and counts as separate work at a separate price, named before it starts:

  • a new page, or a new section of an existing one;
  • a design change: a different layout, different colours, a different typeface, «freshening the look»;
  • new functionality: a form, a calculator, a gallery, an integration, payments;
  • writing copy from scratch — swapping in a ready text is still a change, composing one is not;
  • a second language for a page or the site;
  • work outside the site: email, advertising, social media, SEO campaigns, moving to another host;
  • the consequences of someone else's intervention in the code, content or hosting — that is repair on an estimate after an audit, as in the terms, clause 7.

A borderline case is settled simply: I say before the work starts whether it is a change or a separate line. Nothing called «a change» is repriced after the fact.

What the terms say

Six lines that usually go unwritten anywhere. Here they stand before the button, not after it.

  • No contract. Cancel in any month.
  • The domain is registered to you.
  • The code and the data are yours — I export them on first request.
  • If you leave, I hand everything over free of charge.
  • The price rises by no more than 5% a year, and never without 30 days' notice.
  • After you leave I keep your backups for six months, then delete them.

Cancellation — by email, without giving reasons. The plan runs to the end of the month you paid for, and on that same day I hand over everything needed to move.

What I operate and what belongs to you

I operate

The server and its configuration, the SSL certificate, daily off-server backups, uptime monitoring, security updates, and email on your domain.

That is a service: while the plan is paid for, these things are my responsibility and you do not need to know where they live. I keep the status page on a separate platform, not on the same server — otherwise it would go quiet exactly when it is needed.

Belongs to you

The domain, the code, the site's content and all the data it collects. The domain is registered to you, not to me — that is a term, not a courtesy.

I export the code and the data on first request and free of charge, including when you are moving to another contractor. Leaving needs no explanation.

I provide the data processing agreement on request — what is processed and on what basis is written in the privacy policy.

Email

A mailbox on your domain is included in every plan, the smallest one included. That is enough while you need one address and a web interface.

If you need Google Workspace — shared calendars, drive, several staff — I set it up as a separate line: I pass the subscription through at cost, per user, and charge once on top for setup and mail migration. I do not make money reselling email.

Mailbox on your domain
included
Google Workspace
€6.80/mailbox/mo — Google's own price, no markup
Setup and migration
€90 one-off, up to five mailboxes; more — by estimate

The mailbox lives while the plan runs. On cancellation I hand over the mail archive and help set the mailbox up in its new home — the address stays yours, because the domain is yours; only where it points changes. Without the move, mail stops arriving at the end of the paid month, which is why the move is part of the handover, not something left for you to guess.

Start care

Billing is monthly. No contract and no minimum term: you can cancel in any month, by email and without giving reasons.
